Main Purpose of the role
To ensure proactive and robust credit risk management of the bank.
Take control of credit deliverables to & from committees, stakeholders based on set KRIs & KPAs.
Develop methodologies for the management of the credit portfolio along with the CRO.
Develop risk appetite thresholds to carry through to lending strategy.
Develop and enhance the Credit Reporting & Monitoring framework which meets the requirements of external & internal stakeholders; Ensure timely and accurate delivery of Credit Risk reports.
Interpret the information and suggest actions for consideration by Senior Management and Credit Committees.
Make sure the bank strategy is integrated in credit function and management.

- Lead enhancements to the Credit Measurement Framework; which include rating models (PD) and LGD/ EAD measurement jointly with the CRO.

- Assist in preparation and presentation of the information pack for Board Risk Committee
- Contribute proactively to various risk related projects and initiatives owing to synergies (e.g. stress testing, IFRS 9 and ICAAP); especially on aspects pertaining to credit measurement and sourcing/ management of data for these initiatives
- Contribute to system implementation projects in the credit risk space (e.g. Credit Management System) by providing requirements and design inputs, particularly with regard to credit risk recognition and measurement.
- Assist the CRO in development and review of Credit Policy & Standards
- Ensure that sound credit risk measurement and monitoring frameworks are developed and implemented throughout the bank in a standardized manner.
- First level credit screening for deals to be presented to credit committee.
- Arrears management in respect of accounts that require intensive care and Legal accounts, including the recommendation of recovery strategies.
- Staff loan management
- Interact with Head:Lending in order to ensure that strategic focus is attained.
- Treasury linked facilities are review timeously and liaison with Treasury management.
- Continual interaction with Risk Officer in ensuring that Credit Risk Committee packs and other reports are properly prepared, checked and circulated within agreed times.
- SARB and Statutory reports are correct and timeously submitted to relevant authorities.
- Working in conjunction with Risk Officer and ad-hoc tasks as required.
- Oversee invoice discounting client audits.

- Liaise with key operational functions to ensure client service delivery to agreed benchmarks.
